The C Family – Bloomfield Hills Family and Child Photographer

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the C family at Grandma and Grandpa’s beautiful home in Bloomfield Hills.

Their entire family was so sweet, and even offered me fruit and coffee before I left which I thought was incredibly kind.

I feel so lucky to be photographing this wonderful family again next month for the little miss’s 1st birthday!

This sweet baby is most certainly a mama’s girl.  Watching her was like watching my kids when they were that age :)

Even though she spent most of our session in her mommy’s arms, we did manage to get a few shots with daddy too ;)

Isn’t she darling?!

Our session ended on a sleepy note, but I got to see the 1st birthday dress, and let me just tell you that I can’t wait to photograph it!  It is fabulous :)

I hope that your days are filled with sunshine, lollipops, happiness, and love C family, see you next month!

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Week – Michigan Child Photographer

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

1. The $7 school picture package.  I know it sounds silly, seeing that I take tons of pictures of my kids, but for some reason I feel the need to own the official school picture.  Do they go on my wall?  No.  Do I give them out?  No.  Do I go ga-ga over them?  No.  But, if I don’t order at least one photo I feel like we’re missing out on something.  So, being able to order one photo to put into our photo album makes me feel happy.  Even if no one else ever sees it :)

2. The warm weather we’ve been having.  Fall has arrived, but we have been blessed with warm weather the past week.  I am not a cold weather person, so I have been thrilled that we can still wear shorts, and dresses.  I think next week is supposed to cool down quite a bit, so for now I am going to remain blissfully happy with the warm weather :)

3. Dance classes.  So, while I wish that all of my kids dance classes were on the same night, instead of 3 different nights, watching their happy little faces through the window while they’re dancing makes me happy.  The fact that they’re getting exercize makes me happy too :)

4. Friends.  This week has been filled with so many wonderful friends.  It has been filled with playing, yummy snacks, and good conversation, and that makes me happy :)

5. Feeling appreciated.  Sometimes as women we are taken for granted.  Both by ourselves, and by others.  How fun, important, strong, kind, wonderful, beautiful, and even how sexy we are sometimes takes the back burner to everyday life.  Knowing that someone appreciates you feels wonderful, and if it reminds you to appreciate yourself a little bit more, it  becomes even more amazing.  Feeling appreciated makes me happy :)

One Of Those Days – Fenton Michigan Lifestyle Photographer

So, you know those nights where bed time doesn’t come soon enough?  Well, we had one of those nights tonight, and guess what?  Bedtime really couldn’t come soon enough, because as bedtime arrived one of my wonderful little ones who will remain nameless locked all of us, including themselves, and even the cat outside.

While all of us were outside being attacked by blood sucking mosquitos my  keys were inside on the counter, and my phone was inside on the rocking chair.

Was it intentional?  Kind of.  Was it accidental?  Kind of.  Was it irritating?  Absolutely.

Luckily for us we have wonderful neighbors, and an amazing family, both of which were willing to come to our rescue.

Since I didn’t want to blog without a photo, here is my little lady on her first day of pre-school.  They had asked all of the kids to decorate a person to look like them, and surprise surprise, her girl is wearing pink :)

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Week – Michigan Photographer

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

1. Watching my daughter play dress-up at her pre-school open house.  This week my daughter and I went to her pre-school open house.  She was excited to meet her teachers, and check out her new classroom.  She was excited to find her her locker, and cubby.  But, the one thing that made my heart happy was when she found a pretty dress in the dress-up cabinet, and high heels to wear with it.  (And of course she had to wear the ones with the highest heels.  She even stood them on the ground next to eachother just to see which ones were taller.)  I loved watching my girly girl, and knowing that she is going to be a little bit happier at school knowing that they have a pretty dress, and high heels.  Watching my girly daughter, and knowing that she is going to enjoy preschool makes me happy :)

2. The Carnival.  Over the weekend we went to the carnival that was in town.  We rode lots of rides, and ate cotton candy.  My husband didn’t have to work, so he was able to come with us which of course made our day that much better.  The huge carefree smiles, the arms up in the air, the laughter, the happiness, the waves that I got everytime a ride brought them by me again, and my sweet kids snuggled up close to me when they were a little nervous made me incredibly happy :)

3. A night on the town.  I spent Saturday night with my sister and some friends, and I must say that it was a lot of fun!  I haven’t had a fun night out alone in who knows how long, and I’m so glad that I went because it truly made me happy :)

4. After school activities.  This week the boys had a civic celebration at their school, and they didn’t have to be picked up until 5.  It’s amazing what you can get done when you simply have a little more time!  When my husband came home from picking up the boys everyone was happy, and had just finished eating popsicles.  Luckily it didn’t spoil their appetite for the meatloaf that I had just cooked.  Knowing that my kids were having fun, and having the extra time to accomplish some things that I wanted to accomplish made me happy :)

5. Dress down days.  While I certainly don’t have anything against uniforms, it’s fun to see how excited my kids get over being able to wear whatever they want for dress down day.  They come home so excited the day before, shouting, “Mom, tomorrow is dress down day!”  Which of course means that I can’t help but be excited with them.  While dress down day does cost me $1 per kid, their joy makes it worth it.  Seeing my kids get excited over the simple things makes me happy :)

Oh, and teaching my daughter how to blow bubbles with her gum, and how to write her name made me happy this week too :)

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Week – Michigan Photographer

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

1. Bravery.  This week my boys went back to school.  When I walked them in it really sunk in that summer had flown by.  To be totally honest, it felt like we hadn’t been gone for more than a long weekend.  My boys did great, and my younger son told me after school that he was proud of himself for not crying this year.  Their first day was easy on all of us, and I am so proud of their bravery.  It made me happy :)

2. Feeding ducks.  This week we went to feed the ducks three times.  I know, lucky ducks, right?!  The kids thought that it was so awesome that the ducks would eat right out of their hands!  I thought that it was awesome that the 2 bags of bread were no longer sitting on my counter…  Feeding the ducks, and sharing in the excitement of my children makes me happy :)

3. Playdates.  This week I got together with 2 of my dear friends from elementary school.  Not only was it a playdate for the mommies, but both of my wonderful friends have little girls the same age as my little girl.  I love that we are all still so close, and I love that our little girls will grow up with each other.  Maybe one day they’ll grow up to be just as close as we are.  Playdates, and friendship makes me happy :)

4. Surprise parties.  This weekend we went to a surprise 30th birthday party for a friend of ours.  The kids couldn’t wait to be a part of the surprise!  The scene was set.  Their car pulled up, and we were all standing next to the driveway, with a banner and balloons.  Then we witnessed a first for us when it comes to surprise parties, she jumped out of the car, and RAN AWAY!  It was quite comical, LOL!  That was one reaction that I didn’t expect.  Once she came back she had a great time, as did we.  Seeing the reaction at a surprise party can’t help but to make you smile, and that of course makes you happy :)

5. A positive attitude.  This weekend I had a little bit of a struggle finding my positive, upbeat attitude.  But guess what, when I found it it made me happy :)

What made you happy this week?
