Real Estate Agents – Michigan Commercial Photographer

Up until yesterday I had never photographed a real estate agent.  But, then two fabulous ladies called and asked me if I would photograph them for their business cards, and web page, and I couldn’t resist.

When they told me that they didn’t feel that a studio suited their personality, and they were looking for something colorful that would set them apart from every other real estate agent in town, I knew that we were a perfect match :)

Little Miss M – Michigan Lifestyle Photographer

Little Miss M is another adorable girl that I had the pleasure of meeting this summer that somehow never graced my blog.

It was one of those warm, sunny days that I long for during the winter…

Uh oh, someone’s getting sleepy…

And since most parents of little ones don’t survive the day without some tears, I had to share this one.  Look at that poor little face!

Don’t worry, I snapped a quick photo as Mommy was swooping in to make everything better ;)

Have a great week everyone!

The Riddles – Michigan Child Photographer

The other day my son came home with a book of riddles, and while I was able to figure out some of them, others left me completely stumped…

Can you guess the answers?

1. What always has an eye open, but never sees?

2. Why does a cowboy wear a wide hat?

3. Why is a ball team like a pancake?

4. A lady in a lunchroom was eating ham and eggs when a man came in and ordered pie a la mode.  How did she know that he was a sailor?

5. When is a baseball catcher like a farmer?

6. Who are the best bookkeepers?

7. What is the difference between a jeweler and a jailer?

8. What is the best way to start a fire with 2 sticks?

9. A man rides into town on Friday.  He leaves 2 days later, also on Friday.  How did he do it?

Feel free to leave any guesses in the comments section, and come back tomorrow for the answers!

A Day Spent Ice Skating – Michigan Lifestyle Photographer

My husband and I took the kids ice skating yesterday.

After we were outside for a while my hands got so cold that I could hardly even bend my fingers to work my camera, but it was totally worth it.  It was so fun to watching our kids skate, and slide, and hold hands, and slip, and giggle….

There were even some trips down the hill on a broken and forgotten snowboard, a ride in a snow shovel, and the boys also rolled down the steep hill.

I didn’t wear any make-up on our outing, but that didn’t stop me from getting a quick snap of all of us together.  I wouldn’t want my kids to grow up and think that I never went anywhere with them ;)

Valentines Winner – Michigan Child Photographer

The winner of the giveaway is….  My Mom!

I was so surprised when my daughter showed me the name that she had selected from the bowl.  Out of all the entries, she chose my Mom.  And of all of the things that my Mom could have written about, her entry was about my Grandma, her Mom…

Here is my Mom’s entry, and the photo that she wanted to share.

grandma

I love this photo of my mom because if reminds me of the fun she always injected into our family. That year it was competing in a dress-up game to see whose team could get dressed and undressed in play clothes she had selected the fastest.  Another year it was her arranging a talent show in the morning, where everyone practiced during the day to perfect and deliver their unique talents to the family – Mom sang “The Ladybug and The Centipede Got Married”.  Whether it was home made charades or trivial pursuit, her love for having family fun affected everyone and she even had a way of getting the teenagers involved!  We all loved her persuasive nature and fun-loving spirit that I believe was perfectly captured in this photograph.

As I was going through a disc that contained many old photos of my grandma to find the photo for my Mom’s entry, I came across this photo taken by my uncle of the dress-up relay race that my Mom had mentioned.

dress-up relay

As I looked at this photo, I couldn’t help but be filled with both happiness, and sadness.  It makes me happy to remember all of the love, smiles, and laughter that took place that day.  It makes me happy to remember our wonderful family get togethers, and my grandma’s cooking.  Looking at this photo also takes me back to when my boys were really little…

When I look at this photo I realize just how much life has changed since then.  My grandma is no longer with us, and she is missed daily.  My grandpa has since re-married, and now spends a good part of the year in Florida.  The state that my Uncle, and his family now call home.  Some people have gotten married, some have gotten divorced, and others have  welcomed new babies.  We have said goodbye to loved ones.  We have spent holidays both together, and apart…

Through it all, we have supported, and loved each other.  I am so grateful for our family, and the love that we all have for one another.  I feel so blessed that our family is who it is because of the love that my Grandparents had for all of us.  A love that first started with the two of them.

After my grandma passed away, my grandpa showed me this photo of my grandma that he had carried in his wallet all these years.

She didn’t think that having her legs wrapped up was a very good idea though…

Don’t Forget – Michigan Photographer

Don’t forget, Friday is the last day for you to send me your entry for the Valentines Giveaway!

It’s super simple, just send me a photo showing what you love, (the photo does not have to be new) along with a statement of why you love it, and you could win one of the 5×7 photos posted under my Valentines Day Giveaway entry!  The winning entry will be showcased on my blog.  You can’t win if you don’t play, and of course, you get to choose which of the 3 photos you would like!  (The photos look great matted, and framed.)

I had been asked if anyone can play, even if I don’t know them personally, and the answer to that is yes!  You, your mom, your brother, you childs teacher, your best friend from high school…  Anyone that has someone, or something that they love is welcome to play.  Simply pass along the link to my blog, and they can take it from there ;)

And since I wouldn’t want to post without a photo, here are the adorable vintage robots that my mom gave the kids for Christmas.
