Thanksgiving 2008

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs!

A few snaps from around our house today.

We slept in, we cleaned, we hung out, we made turkeys out of construction paper, we watched the parade, we snuck in a few family photos thanks to my self timer, and then we headed off to my husband’s aunt, and uncle’s house for dinner.

Thank you C, and R for hosting Thanksgiving, the  food was fabulous!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope you had a wonderful day :)

Oh, and I’m supposed to leave at 4:00 AM to go shopping with my sister, wish me luck!

Thankful

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.  ~William Arthur Ward

There are so many things to be thankful for, and with Thanksgiving coming up I have decided to make a list to remind myself just how truly blessed I am.

I am thankful for my husband.
I am thankful for my kids.
I am thankful for my mom.
I am thankful for my sister, and her family.
I am thankful for my brothers.
I am thankful for all of my family members.
I am thankful for my husbands family.
I am thankful for friends.
I am thankful for my kids teachers.
I am thankful for their school.
I am thankful that we never have to go hungry.
I am thankful that we always have gas in our car.
I am thankful that we have a home.
I am thankful for hats, gloves, and coats that keep us warm.
I am thankful for my photos of my children.
I am thankful for phone calls, and letters in the mail.
I am thankful for music.
I am thankful for laughter.
I am thankful that my kids have each other.
I am thankful that my husband isn’t out of work, as so many others are right now.
I am thankful that we can afford presents for Christmas.
I am thankful that we have the ability to donate gifts to others.
I am thankful for God.
I am thankful for our church.
I am thankful that all of our needs are met.
I am thankful for my clients.
I am thankful for my talent.
I am thankful for love.
I am thankful for my marriage.
I am thankful that we live in a place that is safe.

Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.  ~Theodore Roosevelt

Little Mr. B – Michigan Child/Commercial Photographer

Last week I had the pleasure of shooting Little Mr. B for www.crawlercovers.com

Lots of layers, and bright colors excite me, so when Little Mr. B got out of the car, I was secretly doing the happy dance on the inside.  I was in love.  I may have even been drooling a little over his adorable outfit.  (If I was, I hope no one noticed!)

As an added bonus, some of his layers came from one of my favorite stores.

Was it my lucky day, or what?!

Mommy, My Head Hurts

So this morning my daughter and I were sitting a few feet apart, and while she is laying on the floor  she says, “Mommy, my head hurts from the heat.”

So I remind her, “Honey, I think your head hurts because you bumped it on the car door yesterday.”

To which she crabbily replies, “No, it hurts from the hot air that you blowed out of your nose!”

Hmm…  I didn’t know that my breath from a few feet away could be confused with the heat blowing out of the heater right in front of her.  Silly me!

Happy Friday everyone!  Don’t you wish the weather was still this nice?

G-S Family – Michigan Family Photographer

A few days ago I had the pleasure of photographing the G-S family.

We lucked out that day, because even though it was chilly, the rain held off until later in the afternoon.  Lucky us!

The G-S family were all super sweet, and I enjoyed our time together.

Enjoy your sneak peak guys!

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Over the weekend, when I did the shoot for www.crawlercovers.com, it was cold!  That day had a mix of rain, snow, and wind.  Did I ever mention that winter is not my favorite season?  I love the way that it looks, but man I am not a fan of cold weather…

The kids that participated in the shoot all wore layers, and anyone that wasn’t having their picture taken was more than welcome to stay in the car.  Heck, I wish it had been possible for me to shoot from the car, LOL!

Well this beautiful little girl tried to think warm sunny thoughts, but there was just no getting around the fact that it was cold.  At this point in the shoot I knew just how she felt.  My hands were bright red, and numb.  I was shivering, and to be honest I don’t think my legs fully warmed up until much later that evening.

Cold or not, this gorgeous sweetie was a trooper, and we got some lovely photos of her.  I just hope she warmed up quicker than I did!

Her little brother made me giggle when I asked him if he was going to participate in the photo shoot.  I believe his exact words were, “No way.”  His expression, and tone of voice totally cracked me up, LOL!

Even though he didn’t participate, I couldn’t resist capturing at least one shot of that cute face :)

Broken Legs

This cute little 3 year old made me smile at our shoot on Sunday.  He had his Mom carry him from the car to the stairs because his legs were “broken”.  (Which apparently means that they are to tired to walk.)  How cute is that?

I of course wish that I could try that trick on my husband.  How sweet would that be?!  Unfortunately  he has a bad ankle due to an accident 6 years ago, so I don’t think he’d go for it.  A girl can dream though, right?

This little guy was adorable in his sweater, and matching hat.

All Grown Up

While I was going through the photos of this handsome little guy, I kept picturing him all grown up.  Well not all the way grown up, but as a high school senior.  It was funny to me, because I think that this is the first time that I have ever done that.  I couldn’t help but picture him as the popular guy walking down the hall in his jersey all ready for the big game.  You know, the guy that everyone likes, and the guy that never has a problem finding a date to the dance…

One day that may be him, but for now, he is an adorable, kind 8 year old little boy with his whole life ahead of him.
